Rub a Dub Dub

Seamus in the Tub

Really the camera now?

Do you want to play?

Seamus loves to drink in the tub

Seamu's Birthday Party

It is very hard to throw a birthday part for a 1 year old. I mean they aren't going to remember it, and they can't enjoy a whole bunch of birthday hoopla, so what is the point. I have decided first birthdays are really for parents. And since I am fairly low maintenance I decided to celebrate Seamus is a very "Sarah" fashion.

For his first birthday we decided to celebrate in our family room with just our close friends. Memaw Debbie, Rissa and Keegan, the Pullen Family, and the Kidds (except that they couldn't come because they were at a wedding). We did minimal decorating (not surprising), ate chick-fil-a and a homemade chocolate cake (that I made).  I think Seamus really enjoyed it!
Seamus loves grilled nuggets and we let him have a few french fries

The birthday cake that I MADE from SCRATCH

Ooooooh fire

Some one really wanted to grab those candles

I love how excited Cyrus is for his little brother

And of course Cyrus helps!

One of my all time favorite pictures. You can see just how much Cyrus adores Seamus

Time to taste the cake

I think he likes it

He loves his helicopter from Sara and his puppy from Rissa!
Is my baby boy really 1 already (well he is actually 13 months now...I'm not a timely blogger).

Our Little Soccer Player

Cyrus started playing soccer at the beginning of March. The first few games were freezing, but Cyrus was excited about playing, so it didn't seem to bother him so much. He has been looking forward to soccer since the fall, however, we realized that he is more of a Rugby player. He likes to dive on the ball and grab at it with his hands. He also takes after mommy, in the fact that he wants to play goalie (I played goalie for a few years of youth soccer, and loved it!)
Cyrus is on the Orange Team

Cyrus has some crazy skills when it comes to kicking the ball

Cyrus has enjoyed making new friends

The only frustrating part of the YMCA soccer is that players can be anywhere from 4-6 (which means some kids are almost 4, like Cyrus, and some kids are almost 7) the skill level between the kids can be extreme. It seems like the older kids definitely monopolize the ball.

The first game Cyrus did great. The second game we were sort of out of sorts. Ryan was away and Cyrus was very clingy, which is not normal these days. His friend Ben was also feeling clingy to his parents as well. It was very sweet to see Cyrus try and encourage his buddy to play. I think seeing someone else upset made him forget about himself for a moment. I love that he wants to help his friends. Ben and Cyrus are in the same preschool class and they were really excited when they learned that they were on the same team for soccer.

This week at soccer Cyrus had no problems, and Ben didn't either. They both ran out to the field and warmed up with out needing a parent with them. It was awesome seeming my little man excited and ready to play.

I can't wait for T Ball!

1 Year Check Up

Some one had a grand time at the doctor's office!

Seamus did very well during his appointment. Dr. Craft reported that Seamus is the picture of health.

His One Year Stats are as follows:
Weight: 18 lb 4 oz
Height: 29"
Head Circumference: 17 3/4"

Seamus is in the 25th percentile. He is so tiny, but It is sort of nice have a little tiny baby who loves to snuggle as much as Seamus does. Seamus did drop off his growth curve. We aren't sure how that happened since Seamus eats double what Cyrus eats on a daily basis. Dr. Craft thinks Seamus is just going to be a very lean kid. Ryan and I find that funny because we thought he was sort of chubby.

He is reaching all of his milestones, but he seems to be especially fast with fine motor skills. He feeds himself perfectly, and this week he started demanding his own fork or spoon. He is actually doing fairly well feeding himself with his utensils, I can't believe it. I don't think Cyrus started using utensils until he was much older.

He isn't talking yet, but he is communicating clearly. He will sign "all done" when ever he is done with eating, playing a certain game, being in his crib etc. He does sing all the time. His favorite song is "da da da da da" from the Lorax.

He is nursing 2-3 times a day if I am around. Once when he first wakes up at 4:30, then again at mid-afternoon, and then before bed. I thought he was going to ween, but he started comfort nursing this past month when my schedule got very busy and his molars started coming through.

He eats everything and anything. I haven't found anything that he refuses to eat. He loves yogurt, chicken, bagels, bananas, mango, grapes, apples, hamburger, tacos, okay serioulsy you name it he will eat it. He eats 3 meals and a snack during the day. I'm thinking we probably need to add another snack in because the boy is starving by dinner time.

Seamus still wears size 3 diapers, and can fit into all his 6-12 month clothes. He goes to bed at 7:00 pm most nights. He loves tubby time!

He thinks his brother is the funniest person around, and loves to chase after Isabelle. He especially loves Mommy ;) He is so snuggly, and loves to nuzzle into my neck. He also makes this sound when he snuggles. The best description is chuffing, like what tigers do. He also scent marks you by rubbing his head against you. It is really adorable.

Soon I'll post about his birthday party, but now it is time for me to go to bed!
